Mechanical Love
Mechanical Love
Mechanical Love is poet Milli Graffi’s chapbook-length selection from her influential 1994 book of the same title. Her mordant wit is foregrounded in this selection, underlining her ‘fabulous confrontation’ with the language that we daily inhabit. Working closely with the author, Mechanical Love also marks poet Dennis Phillips’ first publication as a translator.
Milli Graffi’s books of poetry have been at the forefront of Italian experimental writing since the late 1970s. Her criticism has kept a scrupulous watch on the innovative work of her contemporaries in Italy, France, England and the U.S. She has published translations of both Alice in Wonderland and Through a Looking Glass. She is also the editor of one of Italy’s most influential journals of literary criticism, Il verri.
